Lost Scottsdale, decade by decade

Scottsdale has a habit of tearing down what it loves. This is every closed place in the guide, 302 in all, filed under the decade it opened: the steakhouses and supper clubs, the guest ranches and resorts, the drive-in and the art-house cinemas, the malls, the golf courses, the festivals and the institutions that ran their course.

Every place on this page is closed. Each guide is kept as Scottsdale history, for reference only: its address, hours and prices describe the place as it was, and each one says what, if anything, stands there now.

When they opened

The height of each bar is how many of these places opened in that decade. Tap one to jump to it.

Opening year unknown

We haven't found when these opened. Each guide says what the record does show.

A place is filed under the year it opened, or the first year its guide gives when the opening date isn't known. The list updates itself: when a guide is marked closed, it appears here.
