This is the whole list. Not the twelve best, not the ten you have heard of: every bar and club we could confirm inside the Scottsdale city limits in October 2026, plus the resort bars on the Paradise Valley border that carry a Scottsdale address and the casino and entertainment venues on the Salt River reservation that everyone calls Scottsdale. Where a place has a full guide on this site, its name is a link. Where it does not, the one line here is what we know and could verify. The lost ones are at the end, because in Scottsdale a bar’s second life as a story is often longer than its first as a bar.
A few rules for how we counted. A restaurant made the list only when its bar is a reason to go on its own: a lounge with its own name, a rooftop, a tasting room, a whiskey wall, a late program that outlives dinner. Pool bars count when a non-guest can buy a drink at them. Strip clubs are across the line in Phoenix and stay there. Kierland Commons and the west side of Scottsdale Road north of Thunderbird are inside the City of Phoenix with Scottsdale mailing addresses; the site files them under Kierland, and so does this list, with the flag. Anything we could not confirm with a 2026 source was left off rather than guessed.
The list runs south to north, the way the city does, after the district that gives Scottsdale its reputation. For how a night actually moves through Old Town, read the nightlife guide first; for the rooms that open at 6 a.m., the dive bar guide; for the doors with passwords, the speakeasy guide. This page is the index behind all of them.
The Entertainment District: Camelback to Indian School, east of Scottsdale Road
The dozen blocks around Stetson Drive, Saddlebag Trail, Indian Plaza and Shoeman Lane are the reason Scottsdale is the bachelorette capital of the country. Three companies own most of it: Evening Entertainment Group, the Corieri family firm that opened Axis in 1997; Riot Hospitality Group, which merged with the Yari brothers’ Spellbound in 2019 and now runs Maya, Whiskey Row, El Hefe, CAKE and Riot House; and Jocque Concepts, the newest, with Kill Club, El Camino and Estelle. You can walk the whole district in ten minutes, and on a Saturday in March you will.

The 15,000-square-foot pool club and nightclub that Riot rebuilt floor to ceiling and reopened on May 23, 2025, with a carved wooden goddess behind the bar and a DJ booth that serves the pool by day and the floor by night: day club Friday through Sunday noon to 6, nightlife Thursday to Sunday. The Clubhouse at Maya is 12,000 square feet of open-air turf with beer pong, cornhole and bottle service. Built where Myst and Suede stood.
- CAKE Nightclub, 4405 N Saddlebag Trl. Riot’s chandelier-and-fantasy club with aerialists and bottle-service cake presentations, Thursday through Saturday from 9 and Sundays from 8, since January 2014; the corner that was the Pussycat Lounge and then EPIQ before it. - Riot House, 4425 N Saddlebag Trl, Suite 105. About 12,000 square feet of South Beach: a wraparound bar, private booths, tropical drinks, El Hefe’s kitchen, NFL watch parties by day and a party by night.
- WET Deck, the Cottontail Lounge and the Living Room, W Scottsdale, 7277 E Camelback Rd. The rooftop pool that invented the Scottsdale day club: 13 cabanas, weekend DJs from noon to 6 from mid-April through October, day passes for non-guests. The Cottontail Lounge shares the deck and turns into a club at night, to 2 a.m. on weekends; the lobby Living Room has live music Fridays and Saturdays; Sexy Roman replaced Sushi Roku in 2025 with a martini cart and a dress code.
- Allegra, the Lobby Bar and the Kauboi Terrace, The REMI, 4415 N Buckboard Trl. Old Town outside the district: Main Street, Brown Avenue, the Civic Center, Fifth Avenue and Scottsdale Road
This is the other Old Town, the one with ceilings you can hear under. The saloons predate the clubs by half a century, the wine rooms are a 2010s addition, and the Fifth Avenue shops hide the city’s oldest cocktail lineage. The Old Town and Fifth Avenue district guides cover the blocks.

The lost ones
Scottsdale tears down and rebuilds on a cycle, and its bars go with the buildings. These are the ones people still ask about, by the decade they opened, with years where the record gives them. The ones with links have full guides; the rest are a line here until they do.
The saloon town, 1941 to 1975
- Whitey’s Cafe and Bar, southeast corner of Main Street and Scottsdale Road, 1941 to the late 1940s. Malcolm White turned a service station into a bar, dressed it in board-and-batten for the winter trade, then leased it out; it became the original Pink Pony. White became Scottsdale’s first mayor in 1951.
- Pink Pony, 3831 N Scottsdale Rd, 1947 to 2016. Charlie Briley’s steakhouse bar was the Cactus League’s clubhouse for sixty years; closed in 2009, revived twice, done in July 2016.
- Lulu Belle, 7212 E Main St, 1953 to the 1990s. The Valley Ho’s owners built a Gay Nineties saloon on the site of the earlier Saguaro Bar; the building is Belle’s Nashville Kitchen now, back bar intact.
- The Hotel Valley Ho’s lounge and nightclub, 6850 E Main St, 1956 to 1973. Jimmy Durante played the lounge piano late at night; Ramada covered the rooms in 1973. ZuZu is the descendant.
- The French Quarter at the Safari Hotel, 4611 N Scottsdale Rd, about 1960 to 1978. Paul Shank’s New Orleans showroom made the town repeal its ban on dancing and booked Rosemary Clooney and the Mills Brothers; the hotel closed in 1998 and the Caesars Republic tower stands there now.
- Reata Pass Steakhouse, 27500 N Alma School Pkwy, 1958 to 2012. Doc Cavalliere’s saloon at an 1882 stage stop; razed in 2015.
- Pinnacle Peak Patio, 10426 E Jomax Rd, 1957 to June 28, 2015. Tens of thousands of cut neckties on the rafters; patio homes now.
- Red Dog Saloon, North Scottsdale Road, 1959 to 1975. Wild Bill Bird and Don Stewart’s two-story saloon with a nude of Red Dog Rosie over the bar; the Galleria site.
- Wild Bill’s, 7116 E Becker Ln, late 1950s or early 1960s to about 1966. “Wild Bill” Byrd’s honky-tonk, where a young Waylon Jennings was a regular, sold to the Lautzes and became Handlebar J, which is why the room, if not the name, is still pouring. (Jennings’s 1964 album Waylon at JD’s is named for a different club, JD’s in Tempe.)
- The Fountain Room and La Roca, Executive House Arizonian, 4925 N Scottsdale Rd, 1961 into the 1960s. Dinner-dancing and a cocktail lounge beside an indoor waterfall; The Scott Resort’s Canal Club is there.
- Trader Vic’s, Fifth Avenue at Craftsman Court, 1962 to 1990, and again at the Hotel Valley Ho from 2006 to 2011. Mai tais for Paul Newman.
- Rawhide’s saloon, 23023 N Scottsdale Rd, 1971 to October 2005. The 1880s town moved to Gila River land near Chandler; shops and homes took the site.
- Bobby McGee’s Conglomeration, 1971 to the 1990s. Bob Sikora’s costumed-waiter supper club and disco, the first of two dozen, began in Scottsdale.
- Mabel Murphy’s, 7018 E Main St, 1972 to 2009. Sikora’s overflow bar for Bobby McGee’s outlived it by decades as a Packers bar; Mabel’s on Main and then The Beverly followed in the room.
- Greasewood Flat, 27375 N Alma School Pkwy, 1975 to March 31, 2015. Fire barrels, picnic tables, bikers and CEOs; the land sold for houses.
The resort era, 1977 to 1995
- The Registry Resort’s showroom and lounges, 7171 N Scottsdale Rd, 1977 to 2005. Scottsdale’s 1980s gala circuit; bankrupt in 1993, demolished in 2007.
- Don & Charlie’s, 7501 E Camelback Rd, 1981 to 2019. The chophouse where baseball drank every March; Senna House stands there.
- Anderson’s Fifth Estate, 6820 E 5th Ave, 1982 to 2007. Burgers by day, dance floors by night, for 25 years.
- Buster’s, 8320 N Hayden Rd, 1987 to 2009. McCormick Ranch’s clubhouse bar at Mercado del Lago.
- Remington’s, 7200 N Scottsdale Rd, 1987 to May 2017. The Scottsdale Plaza’s jazz lounge, thirty years of Tuesday-to-Saturday sets.
- BS West, 7125 E 5th Ave, 1988 to January 7, 2024. Scottsdale’s only gay bar for 35 years; rent and liquor-liability insurance ended it, and nothing has replaced it. The LGBTQ Scottsdale note tells the story.
- The Rockin’ Horse Saloon, 7000 E Indian School Rd, 1991 to about 1998. Tucker Woodbury’s Austin-style roadhouse booked Wilco and Son Volt, burned in June 1996 and finished on Stetson Drive.
- Jetz and Stixx, Camelback Mall, 1992 and 1993 to about 1996. Les Corieri and Mark Drinkwater’s clubs in the strip the Waterfront replaced; the partners bought land on Indian Plaza in 1996 and built Axis there, which makes these two the ancestors of the entire entertainment district.
- The Works, Scottsdale Road at 2nd Street, 1992 to 1997. A warehouse dance club in the buildings of the 1920s cotton gin, Moby and the Prodigy in 1993; a medical center now.
- Martini Ranch and the Shaker Room, 7295 E Stetson Dr, 1994 to October 2013. The anchor of Stetson Drive; Wasted Grain took the building.

The rules of the room
- Last call is 2 a.m., statewide. Nothing in Arizona pours later, which is why the 24-hour Fire Garden at Talking Stick serves no alcohol after 2 and why Mickey’s Hangover’s 3 a.m. was a kitchen, not a bar.
- Surge pricing is geography. At 1:45 a.m. on Indian Plaza a car costs double. Walk to Indian School Road or Scottsdale Road first; the nightlife guide has the pickup zones, and Waymo does not surge.
- Dress codes exist and are inconsistent. Clubs enforce them loosely; Tell Your Friends publishes one; the saloons could not care less.
- The calendar changes everything. Phoenix Open week, spring training, Barrett-Jackson and spring break fill every room on this list; the quiet calendar is when you get a stool.
- Happy hour is a bar-and-patio thing, usually 3 to 6 on weekdays, and the happy hour guide has the rules.
- Eat after. Almost none of these kitchens will save you; the late-night list will.
How we built this, and what is not here
We walked the city block by block in October 2026 through official sites, the liquor-licensed addresses in every shopping center, Experience Scottsdale’s listings, the Phoenix New Times and AZ Big Media archives, and the site’s own guides, and kept only what a 2026 source or a live official page confirmed. A handful of rooms that appear in directories but nowhere else (a sports grill on Bell Road, a pub on far-north Scottsdale Road, a wine bar near the Princess) were left off rather than printed on faith. Every open venue carries the date this page was checked, October 20, 2026, and bars close faster than pages update: if a door on this list is dark, or a bar you know is missing, the about page says how to tell us. We take no money from anyone on it.
