The Dining Archive

Every Scottsdale restaurant worth knowing — past and present

Scottsdale has been feeding people theatrically since the first mesquite-broiled steak hit a checkered tablecloth: cowboy steakhouses with neckties stapled to the rafters, resort dining rooms that chased five stars, and today’s chef-driven blocks in Old Town. This is the working archive — 267 places to eat right now and 119 legends we’ve lost, each with what to order, what it costs, and the story behind it. Every page has a reading-depth toggle: skim it in 30 seconds or go full rabbit hole.

Just want the short list? Local Spots puts the places locals actually use on one card each: the dish to order, the tip, the date we last checked.

Southwestern Gainey Ranch

SWB, A Southwest Bistro

The Hyatt Regency Scottsdale's warm-wood Southwestern bistro took over the Golden Swan's lakeside spot around 2009 and served three meals a day beside the resort's water gardens for fifteen years — corn-and-poblano soup, green mole, tequila-paired tasting dinners — until the Grand Hyatt renovation replaced it with Mesa Centrale.

Taco Bell No. 31

Store No. 31 on McDowell Road near Hayden was the last mission-style Taco Bell in Arizona and one of fewer than ten in the country — a brick cantina with a tile roof and a bell-less belfry that served south Scottsdale for nearly sixty years before closing in April 2025.

Tapino Kitchen & Wine Bar

The Bamboo Club

The Bamboo Club Asian Bistro was the Shea Corridor's answer to the P.F. Chang's era — a roughly 100-seat pan-Asian room at 8624 E Shea Blvd with a patio, a fireplace lounge, a busy happy hour, and a private-party trade that made it a Scottsdale Ranch standby before it closed, along with its Desert Ridge sibling.
