Before Pinnacle Peak Road became a procession of gated entrances, it was the route to the cowboy steakhouses, and this 1977 general store was the stop along the way. It’s still a small village — fuel, liquor, a coffee bar — with a home-style cafe serving breakfast and lunch from 7:00 AM to 2:00 PM and no interest whatsoever in brunch as a lifestyle.
Order the chicken-fried steak and eggs and eat it in the courtyard. It’s the default reward after hiking Pinnacle Peak Park, and it earns the title.
When to go: weekday mornings belong to contractors and Troon retirees, and you can walk straight to a table. Weekends bring a short wait once the hikers come down.
