Hotel restaurants on this stretch of Scottsdale Road tend to arrive, dazzle and turn over. Weft & Warp, at the Andaz, has an identity that would survive outside the lobby: Sonoran cooking over a custom mesquite hearth, and art on the walls from the Cattle Track Arts Compound down the road. Southwestern food with the sombreros taken down.
Follow the fire. The dishes that touch the hearth are the ones worth ordering, and the lineup shifts with the seasons, so ask what’s coming off it tonight.
When to go: golden hour, patio side. Book ahead January through April; summer evenings are quiet, warm and the best value on the resort corridor.
