Old Town has a hundred places to drink and about one place to eat like you’re in Spain. Bilbao-born chef Joseph Gutierrez revived his 1990s Phoenix tapas bar upstairs on Stetson Drive in 2010: a two-tier room around a circular stone bar, fifty-odd tapas, and a small stage where somebody is usually playing guitar.
The menu’s size is the trap. Stick to small plates, share one paella, and it’s the best Spanish night in Scottsdale by a comfortable margin.
When to go: Friday for the flamenco, booked days ahead. Weeknights are quieter and cheaper, and the better call if the food is the point.
