Most Old Town sweets come from a fudge shop with a souvenir sign. Růže is a mother-daughter operation that started on a Facebook page in 2013 and now runs a small Main Street counter in front of a serious custom-cake business.
The prickly pear cake with the sugar cactus on top is the original, much-copied signature. The macarons rotate through seventeen-plus flavors, most of them gluten-free, and they travel well.
When to go: a Wednesday-to-Friday morning, order already placed. Saturday-afternoon walk-ins find a locked door and a lesson in reading posted hours.
