Every chain has a shop zero, and this is ChopShop’s: the 5th Avenue counter Ryan and Caitlin Jocque opened in 2013, a beat ahead of the country’s bowl obsession. The brand has since moved to Texas and multiplied; the original still feeds Old Town’s gym crowd and shop clerks two blocks off the tourist drag.
It’s formula, executed cleanly. You will not have a revelation — you’ll have exactly what you needed in about nine minutes, for a sane number of dollars.
When to go: early, before a gallery walk or the Saturday farmers market. Lunch waves move fast, and the bowls travel well if the patio is full.
