Scottsdale brunch has drifted into nightlife — DJs, espresso martinis, a cover charge in all but name. Butters, the 2005 McCormick Ranch original of what became a small family-owned chain, never got the memo. It makes the pancakes from scratch, squeezes the orange juice, and opens at 6:30 AM every day of the week.
The pancakes are the reason, the crepes are the smart pivot, and the orange juice costs more than the fountain stuff for the same reason it tastes better.
When to go: weekday mornings are easy. Weekends tip from calm to crowded right around 8:00 AM, and the doors close at 2:30 PM, so a lazy afternoon plan is not a plan.
