Scottsdale has plenty of places that do lunch as a warm-up for the bar tab. Arcadia Farms, in the same vintage house on 1st Avenue since 1990, treats lunch as the whole point: organic salads, French-leaning plates, a serious pastry case, and local suppliers named right on the menu.
The strawberry chicken salad has been on long enough that regulars order it by pointing. The lemon mousse is why the case by the door always has someone photographing it.
When to go: a weekday between 11:00 AM and noon, before the rush, while the case is still full. Book weekend brunch, especially January through April.
